Nerd Alert: E-mail Edition
Everyone probably has that one email account that’s got 10,000 emails just in one big folder. That’s lame and horribly inefficient.
First, a tweet from uncle Ben.
Ben is probably right about the first part at least. I'm a little more doubtful about the second part. They will pull some of these “conservative” sites off social media, they may try to pull down the worst “offending” sites at a domain level also, but they can't stop everyone. Most authors or content creators who publish on these bigger platforms usually also have a feed where their work appears all together in one format. You just have to find it.
I’m going to nerd out now. If you don’t care about email folders and rules, or better yet, already have an email system that’s on point, you can go ahead and finish up here.
Thanks,
So what's the best way to organize all that separate data coming into an email account? Folders, with rules. Gmail does not allow you to create folders within your email account or set up rules for incoming mail. One of the main reasons I was never happy with it. I tried a bunch of different free ones until I found the one I liked. That’s mail.com. It lets you pick from a bunch of domain names, and build folders in your inbox with sorting rules. As an example, my personal email ends in @catlover.com. You can also have multiple aliases pointing to the same account. It feels a lot like Outlook, just slimmer. I make no claims of it's privacy. I would imagine they are non-existent though. Don’t use this service to email your buddy a 3D printed gun plan or anything. Articles will be fine though.
Once your new email subscriptions start to show up in your inbox, you just need to add it to your contact list, so you can create the rule around it. Click the From: name and it will prompt you.
Now you need to create a folder as a home base for that subscription. On the left main bar there is a New Folder button at the bottom. Once it’s created you need to move it to where you want it, and pick how often it auto deletes. Here is the folder setup I have for this blog. Any random Substack email goes into the main folder, and I have rules for sorting the rest.
So lets make a rule now. Find the settings button and go down to filter rules.
I usually use the “Move e-mails from a specific sender” type. It just uses the e-mail addresses from contacts you’ve added before. Click the rule type you want to make, enter the contact in the bar and pick which folder you want it deposited in.
Here is what the rule will look like.
Boom, you’re done. It requires some legwork upfront, but the investment is well worth it for the organization down the road. You may have to add multiple contact entries for the same subscription because sometimes they use different accounts. Again, it’s totally worth the small amount of extra work. Everyone probably has that one email account that’s got 10,000 emails just in one big folder. That’s lame, and horribly inefficient.
They do have an app that works pretty well. It does not have all the additional features as the website, but it will get the job done for consuming your media on the go. Search Mail.com in your app store and you should find it.
Now you just need to remember to check it. 😉
Let me know if you have any questions about their platform and I will be happy to try and help. If you’re still reading this, thanks for sticking with me!

Bonus! In the last few weeks I have really tried to dive into the crypto space. To learn about it, and to start investing. If you have any tips or recourses please let me know!

I found this crypto start up called Pi Network that lets you mine their currency from your phone just by clicking a button once every 24 hours. You can’t pull it out yet, and I don’t believe it has a dollar value currently, but it might eventually. It’s free and takes zero effort so why not give it a try. Here is their white paper.
In order to sign up, you have to use an invite code, so please go ahead and use mine. DontStatistOnMe
You can also find me on MeWe! Mike Lastname with the same doggo icon. Let me know in the comments if you can’t find me.
Don’t forget to hit that like button!
